Short Tour to Visit Banyumala or Secret Labuan Kebo Waterfall

Within a short driving distance from MMP passing through coffee and other plantations, you will be dropped at the parking area of the beautiful Banyumala waterfall – a beautiful waterfall located in the rainforest. This waterfall consists of a number of streams pouring down various rocks with a vertical drop of more than 25 meters. There is an enchanting and very clean lake surrounded by dense vegetation. Cicadas are often serenading the visitors of this fall who on a warm day find the water a great way of cooling off. You first hike through plantations on a plateau before you start descending through the rainforest to reach the waterfall; all in all it is about a 15 minute hike to reach the site. You can swim in this waterfall (there is a basic changing facility).

Jatiluwih and Batukaru

Jatiluwih, one of the most stunning rice paddy views the island offers, has officially been crowned as a world cultural heritage site by UNESCO. It has a traditional Balinese watering system named Subak which ensures an equitable distribution of the available water amongst rice farmers. You can take short or longer walks around the rice terraces, 2 to 3 hours depending on your wish. From Jatiluwih, the tour continues to Batukaru Temple, one of the most beautiful temples on the Island located at the foot of the holy mountain Batukaru. The Temple is one of the nine directional temples which protects Bali from bad spirits.

Off the Beaten Villages Tour

This tour will allow you to experience life in untouched Northern Bali far away from the tourist areas as well as the natural beauty of rarely visited villages. The environment is outstandingly beautiful and very fertile, combining small plantations, rice field, jungle etc. Starting from Munduk Moding Plantation you will first visit a waterfall in Munduk village and then inspect some old Dutch colonial houses, Munduk is believed to be the first Dutch hill station in northern Bali. Further down you will see the amazingly beautiful rice terrace in Sanda. The tour will be then continue, passing villages such as Banyuatis (meaning “ cold “ water ), Ideran, Gunung Sari, Bestala ( the fruits village ) and finally arrive in a Bali aga Village named Pedawa. This village of the oldest inhabitants of the island still practices animism. Bamboo houses, bamboo temples and palm sugar processing are some of the interesting sites to visit. You can purchase some tasty brown sugar if it is available. We ask your understanding for the fact that some stretches of this trip may not be completely comfortable since we will be driving on small backroads far from the crowds.

Sekumpul Mystery Waterfall and Undiscovered North Bali

From MMP you will be taken on a tour of unexplored mountain villages in North Bali on the way to the most gorgeous waterfall system in Bali named Sekumpul. It will take you two hours from MMP before you reach the waterfalls. The system consists of five waterfalls of which the largest has a drop of over forty meters, set in a pristine jungle environment. Courageous visitors can go for swim in the natural pools. This is a great opportunity to enjoy untouched Northern Bali natural beauty.

Lovina Beach and Dolphin Watching

Early in the morning at 5 A.M, you will be transferred from MMP to Lovina beach where you will board a local fishing boat to see the attractive dolphin pods. Although sightings cannot be guaranteed, you will typically spot a great many dolphins within half an hour. MMP provides a snack and you will subsequently brunch in Lovina.

Banjar Hot Spring and Buddhist Temple

Passing some villages where seemingly unending rice paddies lie like a green carpet, driving through plantations with tropical fruit trees, such as rambutan, durian, mango or manggosteen, you will arrive at the Buddhist temple which you will visit at your leisure. Then we will take you to a hot spring, where you can relax and soak your limbs. When you think that you have spent enough time at the hot spring, where the water is believed to contain healing minerals, we will head back to MMP via a different scenic route.

    Cycling Around Munduk Moding Plantation’s Neighborhood

    The quiet road behind the plantation is perfect for fun cycling. All along the road - over three kilometers – mostly flat – local farmers grow an astounding variety of crops with Hortensia gardens thrown in to provide a colourful background. Green rolling hills form the background of this trip. You will cycle past local schools and villages and interaction with the local population is guaranteed.

    OFF THE BEATEN CYCLING TOUR

    Your unforgettable cycling experience begins from Munduk Moding Plantation. You will explore Gobleg village and some of its hamlets where you will have the opportunity to witness the daily activities of the farmers, the delicate coffee plantation, mandarin oranges plantation and the Hortensia Flowers which seem to always be blooming. Your cycling journey brings you close up to many genuine rural activities which one can simply not experience from a car; given that we largely stay on the Gobleg plateau the cycling is not particularly strenuous.

    Three in One

    The cycling will start from Munduk Moding Plantation for 30 to 45 minutes. We will stop by at Bencingah Temple and start trekking to Lake Tamblingan descending from the crater's rim. Next, a relaxing canoe ride will help us to get across the lake to explore the traditional fishermen village before heading back to the hotel. You will be collected by our car.

    Inter Village Cycling

    Starting from a small fisherman village by the lake you will be cycling on a quiet road bordered by millions of old clove, coffee and cocoa trees.     Bali Aga Village, Hot Spring and Buddhist Temple Cycling

    The great discovery of unspoilt urban nature will start off with cycling from Munduk Moding Plantation heading to Pedawa Village. During the journey, you get to witness the cloves and coffee plantations and many other greeneries too. You will get to see the amazing bamboo houses. If you are lucky enough, you might be able to catch the natives making palm sugar and many other interesting sights. We will continue our journey to the Buddhist Temple where we will stop by there to learn more about the holy temple. Our final destination is the famous Banjar Hot Spring. TREKKING

  1. EASY

    Walk Around the Plantation

    MMP’s site is one of the best mountain areas on the island. It is located on the edge of a plateau above three breathtakingly beautiful lakes. The almost five hectares hilly but very fertile soil allows just about every tropical tree, plant, flower or vegetable to grow easily. We believe this maximum one and a half hour trekking on our 3 miles walking path will be an excellent introduction to the island's flora and you are guaranteed to spot some of the indigenous birds. A short introductory guided walk is offered to every new guest on the plantation. Longer, self-guided, walks can be taken at any point in time.

    Duration: 45 minutes to 60 minutes.

    Charming mountain life – a visit to the most undeveloped families around MMP.

    This programme will allow you to closely inspect the simplest way of life of Balinese who live around the property. You will enjoy their genuine hospitality too. Our guide will show you their traditional house and the garden around it and you will typically be offered a cup of tea or coffee during the visit.

    Banyumala Waterfall

    This exciting trek takes you through a number of plantations, growing coffee, mandarins, vegetables, flowers - to name but a few. You'll also pass some different bamboo groves. After a while, the land becomes less cultivated and you enter a forest. There are many panoramic sights to enjoy after which you will reach the Banyumala waterfall where you can swim in the fresh mountain water. This waterfall consists of a number of streams pouring down various rocks with a vertical drop of more than 25 meters. There is a beautiful and very clean lake surrounded by dense vegetation. Cicadas are often serenading the visitors of this fall who on a warm day find the water a great way of cooling off. Afterwards, you venture further in a local village where you are picked up by car or scooter (whatever you prefer) for a nice breezy ride back to MMP.

    Trekking Around Pristine Tamblingan Lake

    We will start to trek from the rim of crater which is covered by the rainforest area of Lake Tamblingan. The first part of this hike takes us deep into the rainforest as descend towards the lake where we get to enjoy the amazing flora and the unspoiled landscape (many of the trees here are hunderds of years old). As we get closer to the lake, we stumble upon a number of temples situated around Lake Tamblingan. These are intimate temples situated in beautiful nature which are very quiet. We then arrive at lake where one can take a canoe ride round the lake at the end of the programme (charged separately). Alternatively we hike around the shore of the lake to the jetty where the canoes are kept. Guests will be picked up from the parking area and transported back to the hotel. Enjoy the nature, the simple fisherman's life on the lake and some beautifully situated temples!!!

    Starting from MMP you will be walking through orange and flower plantations before descending to a plateau filled with millions of old clove and coffee trees. When you finally arrive at one of Bali’s most magnificent waterfalls, a cold breeze from the spring water fall welcomes you. From the finishing point you will transported back to MMP.

    Waterfall, Plantation and Rice Paddies Trekking

    Starting from MMP you will be walking through orange and flower plantations before descending to a plateau filled with millions of old clove and coffee trees. When you finally arrive at one of Bali’s most magnificent waterfalls, a cold breeze from the spring water fall welcomes you.

    From the tranquil waterfall in the surrounding of MMP, you will continue your scenic walk to Gobleg village where you will be greeted by vast paddy fields which you can explore at your leisure. You then reach the Blambangan Temple which is said to be at the origin of Hinduism in Gobleg village.

    Twin Lake Buyan and Tamblingan

    A mile away from MMP, you will be entering a lush protected rainforest area with giant old trees, animals such as macaque monkeys, black giant squirrel, birds and old temples. You'll then walk along the shore of this lake situated in the caldera of an extinct volcano. This also includes a session of forty five minutes exploring the Tamblingan Lake by dugout canoe. At the finishing point, you will be picked up by and transported back to MMP.

    WATERFALL BONANZA

    Starting from MMP you will first see the Golden Valley Waterfall followed by the Munduk Waterfall (waterfall with a dam) and finally you will see waterfall named Melanting Waterfall. Take your swimming trunks if you'd like to swim in the cool mountain water.

    PADDY FIELDS

    This trek is a great introduction to the vastness of the paddy rice fields in Gobleg, Munduk and Gesing. You will get to witness local farmers tending to their crops in their fields and the agricultural water system managed by local co-operations to ensure that the paddies are all watered - called the subak - which is unique to Bali. As you move through the fields you will notice the subtle differences between the three villages and you cannot miss the harmonious way of living of the locals.

  4. STRENUOUS

    PUCAK MANGU

    We climb to the peak of one of Bali's highest mountains surging 1.900 meters above the sea level. It has a magnificent Hindu temple situated in the rainforest covering the mountain. This is an exhilirating hike which will offer you great satisfaction. When hiking through it from MMP you will be transported to the foothill to start the hike. At first, there will still be some remote farm houses, but then you penetrate the dense rainforest. The trip to the peak will usually take three or four hours. A picnic lunch at the summit is provided. After the descent you will be transported back to MMP.

    JATILUWIH

    Starting from a fisherman village at Lake Tamblingan, the smallest lake in Bali, situated in the caldera of an extinct volcano, you will hike through the dense rain forest and through valleys overlooked by Bali's central mountains. This route is not often travelled and you’ll be accompanied by a second specialist guide who will often hack away the dense growth with his machete. This is MMP’s most strenuous hike for which you are richly rewarded when you exit the rainforest as the other side of Bali’s central mountains and before arriving in the breathtakingly beautiful Jatiluwih valley and village. This village is well known for its beautiful landscape consisting of what many consider to be Bali's most beautiful rice terraces. A snack will be provided during this hike which rewards all the senses. From there you will be transported back to MMP.
